Creative Fundraising Through Community

Fundraising is a vital component that fuels our mission, and often drives the impact we have on the women we serve. While large-scale fundraising events and major donor campaigns are common strategies, micro-fundraising offers a unique and accessible approach to engaging supporters and generating revenue. Micro-fundraising involves raising small amounts of money from a large number of individuals, often through easy and creative initiatives . In this article, we will explore a few micro-fundraising ideas that your center can implement to boost your bank account and increase community awareness.

Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Campaigns:

Empower your supporters to become ambassadors for your cause by launching peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns. Provide your participants with the tools and resources they need to create their own fundraising pages on social media. Encourage them to share their heart for why they are asking for support and give them unique links so that you can keep track of the donations that come in as a direct result of their efforts.

Here is an example post: “29 years ago, I was unexpectedly pregnant and scared. I found the courage to choose life for my son when I saw his tiny body on an ultrasound machine when I was just 18 years old.  Many people don’t know but 1 in 20 women in our state are uninsured and don’t have access to the medical care they need.  “Local Pregnancy Help Organization” provides pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, STI testing and treatment and comprehensive support to women in our community free of charge. This is why I am asking that during the month of May, in honor of all mother’s, you help me to meet my goal of raising $1000 to support this program”

Crowdfunding Campaigns:

Tap into the power of crowdfunding  to amplify your fundraising efforts. Create compelling campaigns through email, text, social media and community events that highlight specific projects or initiatives. Get people excited and give them ideas on how to get involved. Keep supporters updated along the way with fundraising reports and project progress.

For Example: “We are bursting at the seams! Our parent mentor program has so many dedicated participants that we have outgrown our building. Help us to move toward the goal of adding on a 1500 square foot addition, complete with a classroom and 2 new counseling rooms. This space would allow us to add additional support groups, play groups, labor & delivery classes and more to moms and dads in our community. Here’s how you can help: Support the cause with a one time financial gift, become a program sponsor with a monthly donation, submit a matching gift request to your employer, organize a bottle/ can drive or bake sale & donate the proceeds. And don’t forget to spread the word. Every gift and every conversation puts us one step closer to our goal!”

Virtual Events and Workshops:

Host virtual events, workshops, or webinars on topics related to your center’s cause that will increase awareness, engage new donors and keep your center in the forefront of the minds of your supporters. Offer tickets or registrations at affordable prices, and allocate a portion of the proceeds to support a specific program or services. Collaborate with experts, influencers, or thought leaders to attract attendees and enhance the value of your events.

For Example: “Calling all pro-lifers to our upcoming Life Defenders workshop! Life Defenders is a ministry with the mission of equipping people of all ages and denominations to be ambassadors for life. This one-day workshop is designed to make quality pro-life apologetic training accessible to everyone who desires to defend life. Using science & philosophy, this training will equip you to simplify the abortion debate by focusing on two crucial questions: 1) What are the preborn? and, 2) What makes humans valuable? Attendees will learn to expose the logical fallacies of abortion/pro-choice rhetoric without resorting to volatile or angry dialogue and to speak graciously and compellingly to the most pressing moral issue of our day: abortion. Our trainer Mike Spencer (Project Life Voice) will excite and empower you to be a LIFE DEFENDER!”

Donation Drives and Challenges:

Organize donation drives or challenges focused on collecting specific items or resources needed by your organization or the communities you serve. Whether it's food, clothing, diapers or car seats you can rally supporters to donate goods. Set ambitious goals and track progress to keep participants motivated and engaged.

For Example: “In 2023 we gave away approximately 1100 packages of diapers to needy parents in our community. More than that, we were able to offer support, parent education and prayer to each one of these moms and dads who came in for material resources. We expect to see an increase in needs as the year progresses. Help us to stock our baby boutique so that no one is ever turned away due to lack of materials to meet their needs. We are organizing a diaper drive during the month of June and our goal is ambitious! We would like to increase our supply by an additional 600 packages by the end of the month. With your help and God on our side, we believe we can do this! Diapers and gift cards may be dropped off at First Baptist Church, LakePoint Community Center and our local library. We are also hosting an open house at the center on Saturday, June 1st at 10am to kick us off. Bring a pack of diapers, meet our amazing staff and get a tour of the office while you sip on gourmet coffee provided by Hebrews Cafe!”

Recurring Giving Programs:

Encourage supporters to become monthly donors by offering recurring giving programs that provide a convenient and sustainable way to support your organization. Highlight the impact of regular donations and demonstrate how even small contributions can make a difference over time. Provide incentives or recognition for recurring donors to express gratitude and foster long-term engagement.

For Example:” Did you know that 90% of the abortion minded contacts that come into our center are directly from our digital marketing efforts? Our strategic use of Google Ads and Sea

rch Engine Optimization has proven to be exceptionally effective in connecting with those contemplating abortion. Now, we aim to enhance our visibility further and extend support to more vulnerable women. We are seeking 25 new sponsors willing to contribute $25 monthly towards our digital marketing efforts. This investment will enable us to expand our outreach by 30%. "By becoming sponsors, you'll gain access to quarterly reports, heartfelt testimonies, and real-time prayer requests. These updates serve as tangible evidence of the campaign's success and showcase your vital role in our mission. Join us in making a meaningful difference."

In conclusion, micro fundraising campaigns offer you a creative and accessible approach to fundraising that engages your supporters, fosters community involvement, and drives up revenue without the work and expense of a traditional banquet. By taking advantage of easy to use digital platforms, you’ll be able to mobilize individuals to help you reach new donors to make a meaningful impact.
